The Office of the Privacy Commissioner presents free, occasional, lunchtime PrivacyLive forums. The PrivacyLive forums replace our Technology and Privacy Forums and are intended for anyone with an interest in privacy-related and data protection issues.
Former Assistant Privacy Commissioner Katrine Evans will be exploring some recent developments in how we define personal information when we kick off our PrivacyLive speaker series this month.
Katrine, who joined Hayman Lawyers in 2015, notes the definition of personal information keeps on expanding and expanding. Is browser-generated information personal information? What about metadata produced as part of other digital services? What about anonymised datasets? Is a residential address published online without a name personal information?
This PrivacyLIve lunchtime forum is on Wednesday 29 March 2017 from 12pm to 1pm.
Please note the venue for this event has changed.
The forum will now be held at IntenetNZ's Wellington office: Level 11, 80 Boulcott St. Lunch will not be provided.
Katrine's presentation will also be streamed on Periscope.
Please RSVP by Friday 24 March 2017 to attend. You can do this by emailing email@example.com.
If you are unable to attend in person, you will be able to view the presentation by going to our Twitter feed at 12pm on the day where you’ll find a Periscope link to the live stream. It will also be viewable later on our You Tube channel.
Previous forums have involved speakers from universities, consultancies, private companies and government departments on topics ranging from data privacy protection, CCTV surveillance, census privacy implications and stopping online spam and scams.
Sign up here if you would like to be invited to our PrivacyLive speaker series.
